Insaco leads the way in precision machining of hard materials

Insaco is a precision machining company that fabricates parts from all technical ceramics, sapphire and quartz. Since we machine these materials to very precise tolerances for dimension, flatness, wedge and roundness/cylindricity, our customer profile is centered on applications where tight tolerances are critical to the end-use application. Our engineers are available to discuss practical alternatives for your application needs including alternative materials and cost drivers as we do NOT make the materials so are unbiased in our recommendations. PRODUCT NEWS

Asymtek Provides Updated Dispensing Technologies

Asymtek, a Nordson company, has introduced its scalable Spectrum S-920 series dispensing system for high-volume microelectronics manufacturing and the FPD G-4000 system for flat panel display manufacturing.

The S-920N’s scalable design allows customers to buy only the capability needed now and upgrade later as requirements change, providing a lower cost of ownership and maximum return on investment. Technologically advanced closed-loop software and hardware controls increase efficiency and throughput. The S-920N, with patented jetting technology, maximizes dispense speed and accuracy by jetting precise shot volumes as small as one nanoliter. Calibrated process jetting (CpJ) maintains volumetric repeatability and simplifies set-up by automatically adjusting system parameters to ensure the programmed amount of fluid is dispensed, regardless of viscosity changes.

The FPD G-4000 is designed to meet high-volume production requirements for Gen 4 flat panel display manufacturing. It is the system of choice for OLED OEM manufacturers and integrators that install work cells or entire flat panel production lines. The G-4000’s gantry design provides a lightweight platform with a small footprint. Closed-loop process controls ensure less set-up time and less material waste.

New Thermocouple Instruments Feature High Resolution Options

GEC Instruments has introduced its four-channel model S4TC and 16-channel model S16TC, thermocouple instruments for making temperature measurements with thermocouples with unprecedented accuracy.

These units connect to a PC via RS-232 or USB, and are accompanied by a versatile and powerful software package for display, plotting, logging, retrieval and analysis of data. Measurement resolution is better than 0.01°C, and measurement accuracies better than 0.1°C are possible by means of simple calibration procedures within the software.  Custom instruments with one to 94 channels in the same enclosure are also available.

Warner Instruments Releases Live Cell Imaging Chamber

This closed-bath chamber incorporates special features for imaging and is compatible with any microscope stage capable of accepting a multi-well plate. The CV-30 is also compatible with microscope stages having a standard microscope slide adapter.

The CV-30 Live Cell Imaging Chamber features a user-defined bath geometry, bath volume and presents a large viewing area. A glass coverslip, (#1.5 thickness, 0.17 mm) forms the top of the chamber while a 1 mm thick round coverslip forms the chamber bottom.

The CV-30 is designed to be specifically compatible with CytoViva’s High Resolution Imaging System and allows this low-profile imaging chamber to be used for simultaneous observation of fluorescent and non-fluorescent samples.

The Complete Calibration Solution for XRF Analysis of Petrochemicals

PANalytical has introduced a series of new petrochemical standard sets for X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy that make reliable and accurate calibration a simple, convenient and cost effective procedure. The standard sets are made to PANalytical specifications by VHG Labs, the internationally renowned supplier of certified standards and reference materials. Sets are available for: wear metals, lubrication oils, sulfur in diesel fuel and sulfur in oil.

Each set provides a complete calibration solution, with everything required from calibration setup to instant performance testing for quality assurance. They contain: standards in 50 ml bottles, consumables, a calibration template and a performance testing sample for independent verification of the calibration.

IRtec P510G MKII Hand-Held Infrared Thermometer for Glass Applications

With a range of 300°F to 2370°F, the rugged IRtec P510G MKII is specifically designed for use in glass specialized applications. The IRtec P510G’s True Target Size laser pointing system accurately defines the diameter of the measured object.

It includes a temperature range from 300°F to 2370°F, distance to spot ratio of 30:1, spectral response of 5.1 μm, actual, average, max, min and ΔT measurements, data Memory (500 records), adjustable emissivity, USB PC communication, auxiliary Tc K and S input high contrast LCD screen and programmable acoustic and visible alarms.

Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation and PAS Integrity/DOC4000 Products to be Integrated

Intergraph will integrate its SmartPlant Enterprise plant configuration solution, SmartPlant Instrumentation, with the PAS Integrity/DOC4000 product family to provide plant owners with a consolidated view of their control infrastructure for improved operations management.

The consolidated, up-to-date view of the plant’s control infrastructure – from instrument to advanced control scheme – will give process industry users the ability to make faster and better-informed decisions based on a single view of the plant infrastructure, keep engineering data synchronized with changes to control system configurations, navigate multi-system configurations for troubleshooting or optimization of the real-time controls, as well as reduce costs by automating creation of consolidated loop sheets and other documentation.

In addition, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies and new customer locations benefit from shortened SmartPlant Instrumentation set-up time with the new ability to "reverse-load" instrumentation data from existing control systems via PAS’ Integrity, the precursor to DOC 4000.

The plant configuration solution of SmartPlant Enterprise, an open engineering design and data management software suite, helps users better manage and store instrumentation and control data. The PAS DOC4000 product family is a configuration management solution that logs and reports all changes to the real-time infrastructure used to maintain and operate plants for optimal performance and safety of operations. Changes are presented automatically and securely, via intuitive Web-based views. DOC4000 provides up-to-date loop diagrams and data flow maps on which operations, maintenance and safety personnel can rely.

The product integration will be rolled out to customers in phases. First prototype release planned for summer 2008.
