Cross-Talk Compensation Using Matrix Methods
Force sensors are designed to measure forces and torques along defined axes, typically labeled X, Y and Z. These force sensors can have from one to six measurement channels; three force channels (Fx, Fy and Fz) and three torque or moment channels (Mx, My

Continuous Imaging Fluid Particle Analysis: A Primer
Many scientific endeavors involve the use of particulate matter suspended within a liquid. Typically these endeavors are a part of a “process” which is being studied for reasons of determining cause and effect during a discovery process, and later for monitoring the state of that particular “process” once something is known about the causes and effects. This paper will look at the issues associated with fluid particle analysis, discuss some of the historical methods used, and introduce a new technology, the continuous imaging fluid particle analyzer, which offers an automated method for particle analysis which can be used over a broad range of material types/sizes, both in the laboratory and in the field.

Sensors & Plug Play - The New Standard for Automated Sensor Measurements
The IEEE 1451.4 standard reduces the time and challenges associated with sensor configuration. The standard establishes a universally accepted method of giving sensors plug-and-play capability, similar to the plug-and-play capability of a USB mouse and your computer. IEEE 1451.4 defines a mechanism for adding self-describing behavior to sensors with an analog signal interface. This mixed-mode interface combines the traditional analog sensor signal with a low-cost serial digital link to access a transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS) embedded in the sensor. To extend the benefits of Sensors Plug&Play to traditional analog sensors, Virtual TEDS provides the same transducer electronic data sheet in electronic file format. With TEDS, the sensor identifies and describes itself to the data acquisition system to which it is connected.

Hydrogen is gaining popularity in use as a carrier gas because it offers the benefits of speed of analysis, resolution, and sensitivity over other gases. and a fuel gas for GC-FID applications. The selection of an appropriate hydrogen supply source for GC-FID contributes to the usefulness and reliability of the system. Test and measurement systems have always had a need for tight synchronization to control the timing of the various events that occur during a test. Traditionally, external trigger input/output connectors are placed on each instrument, with firmware that allows the instrument to be configured to react to received trigger signals or to output triggers when an internal event occurs. In addition, traditional instruments usually synchronize their own internal functions in a similar manner – a capability that is lost in newer synthetic instrument-based system designs and must instead be accomplished at the system level.
