PerkinElmer Announces Updated S10 Autosampler for Atomic Spectroscopy
PerkinElmer has unveiled an improved S10 Autosampler, a computer-controlled, multi-purpose sampling system for atomic absorption (AA), inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The autosampler automates standard and sample introduction for instrument calibration and sample analysis, extending the spectrometer's capabilities to those of a fully automated analytical workstation.
The new instrument features an advanced drive system with high-precision motors that move the sampling arm of the S10 in the X and Y coordinates simultaneously to minimize changeover time between samples. It includes random-access programming for flexibility and more than 200 vessel positions for maximum capacity. Easily interchangeable sample racks allow for faster analysis setup.
“The S10 has a new sampling arm that incorporates high-precision drive systems to simultaneously navigate sampling in the X, Y and Z axis to the precise locations of each sample vessel,” said Anthony Fernando, research & development manager, PerkinElmer Singapore. “The rinse pump incorporates a newly designed peristaltic pump with a belt-driven assembly. This rinse design allows the switching of the pump speed offering a wide selection of flow rates from 3 to 14 ml/min, customized to the users’ needs. This will significantly reduce the effects of any sampling carryover. The S10 components were also designed for improved corrosion resistance and protection from acid spills.”

A Graphical Test and Measurement Software Application for LXI Instruments
Data Translation has released a new Instrument Pak for Measure Foundry. Instrument Pak provides the first drag and drop graphical software for LXI test and measurement applications. Users can now quickly configure applications with newer LXI instrument capabilities using IVICOM drivers along with existing VISA and SCPI programs.
Measure Foundry is an open application builder that now supports standard instruments: function generator, oscilloscope, digital multimeter (DMM) and programmable power supplies for automated test equipment (ATE). Users can create test and measurement applications combining a variety of instruments without writing any code.
Building on the patented technology of Measure Foundry, the Instrument Pak connects to all standard instruments via IVI-COM drivers which are the basis for all LXI systems. Now, instrument applications can be easily used in process sequences with connections via Ethernet to any PC.
